About Construction Trades

Students progress through a structured sequence of coursework that introduces fundamental and advanced concepts across multiple craft areas, including carpentry, framing, electrical systems, plumbing fundamentals, masonry, interior and exterior finishing, blueprint reading, building codes, and construction math. Hands-on training is emphasized throughout the program as students work with industry-standard tools, materials, and equipment to construct projects that mirror real-world jobsite environments. Learners also practice jobsite management skills such as measurement accuracy, material estimation, project sequencing, site safety, and teamwork.

The pathway supports college and career readiness by preparing students for industry-recognized certifications, such as OSHA 10, NCCER Core, and NCCER Level credentials, as well as advanced training in trade apprenticeships, technical programs, or two- and four-year construction management degrees.

The pathway prepares students for careers including carpenter, electrician’s helper, HVAC assistant, framing technician, maintenance technician, building inspector assistant, and other roles within construction firms, contracting companies, and skilled trades organizations.
