About Accounting
Students engage in a progressive sequence of courses that cover essential accounting practices, including the accounting cycle, double-entry bookkeeping, journalizing and posting transactions, preparing financial statements, managing payroll systems, and maintaining internal controls. As students advance through the pathway, they explore specialized areas such as corporate accounting, cost and managerial accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and the use of accounting software to complete real-world business tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
The pathway emphasizes college and career readiness by offering opportunities for dual credit, industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning experiences.
The pathway prepares students for postsecondary programs in accounting, finance, business administration, and related fields, as well as entry-level positions such as accounting assistant, bookkeeping clerk, payroll specialist, or financial operations support.
