About Dental Careers
Students engage in a structured sequence of coursework that introduces essential topics such as dental anatomy, oral pathology, infection control, chairside assisting, radiography fundamentals, dental materials, equipment sterilization, patient communication, and administrative procedures. Through a blend of theory-based instruction and hands-on practice, students learn to prepare treatment areas, assist with clinical procedures, take dental impressions, perform basic laboratory tasks, process radiographic images, and maintain accurate patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
A key component of the pathway includes preparation for industry-recognized certifications, such as Radiology (if available), CPR/First Aid, and Infection Control credentials that enhance employability. Students may also participate in work-based learning experiences, gaining exposure to dental practices and observing patient care processes in professional settings.
The pathway prepares students for entry-level positions such as dental assistant trainee, sterilization technician, front office coordinator, or dental lab support staff, as well as for further study in dental assisting, dental hygiene, dentistry, or other allied health fields.
